Craigslist – An Addendum

I didn’t realize that guy was called “passive_male.” It makes perfect sense. Being active would involve putting himself on the line, taking chances, risking failure; instead, he sits at his computer and gainsays anyone who’s trying to make something happen.

In all honesty, the Craigslist debacle upset me far more than it should. In the scheme of setbacks, it’s a minor one; we can always re-post in another forum, or re-post with the promise of pay, or just get friends to write scripts for us. But there was something about the spitefulness with which people moved in for the kill – something about their implacable sneering and unmotivated bile – that made me wonder why I bother doing anything. And yes, I’m touchy. And yes, these people are entitled to their opinions (although I’m not sure if flagging a post that doesn’t violate the site’s terms of use is really an opinion). But there’s something about waking up in the morning to a stranger’s undisguised contempt …

Well, let’s just say it wasn’t my favorite Monday.
