No Rest For the Weary!
June 6, 2009 at 1:45 am | Posted in Mike Lavoie | Leave a commentSlightly over 24 hours ago, Friday began. And it doens’t really feel like it’s stopped much. Keith and I were editing until about 4AM, then I slept until 8, worked a full day and powernapped from 6-8 PM. Keith came over for some final costume notes and for him to teach me how to make a shot list, since I did not go to film school or pay attention to how Keith made one last week. Brian Testa, who has come on board as a producer for 12F12W, is already here prepping for tomorrow’s shoot. He has brought an astounding attention to detail to the project as well as an army of props that is going to make “A Summer’s Day” look quite impressive.
Tomorrow is my first directing effort in almost three years to the day. On June 11, 2006, I created The Monkey Monkey Dancer, a 7-minute short for an Amazon.com film competition with my fellow Esper Studio students Byron Beane and Ken Lee. I have actually learned a thing or two since those days and I am surrounded by a team that will not let me fail. Well, they’ll let me fail, but not before putting in their two cents.
And that is at least a modicum of solace for my sleepy head. I’ll report on tomorrow tomorrow, or rather, later today.
