“The Magic Marker” Photos — Camera A

Sunday’s “Magic Marker” shoot was about as different from the previous week’s “Moving Pictures” shoot as possible. First of all, it took place a day late, rather than a day early; we’re so used to shooting every Saturday that any deviation from that pattern feels completely destabilizing. For “Moving Pictures,” we were out in the elements — buffeted by wind, besieged by color-coded children, rattled by the roar of the subway. On Sunday we were in a theater. A dark, hot, fairly quiet theater, which we had rented for the day. It was one of the most controllable locations we’ve had all summer — and of course, the shoot still managed to be stressful, rushed, and chaotic. In that sense, it was exactly like shooting “Moving Pictures.” I guess some things never change …
We had a couple of different cameras taking still photographs on Sunday. I’m in Connecticut right now, taking a little breather (Mike’s editing this film! Sweet relief!), so I don’t have access to all of the photos. Here are the highlights from Sumi’s camera.
“The Magic Marker” will be posted on Friday, August 14th.

DP Derek Van Gorder transfers footage atop Keith's car, while Mike goes into hibernation after a long, long day.
