The Report from Bethel

Saturday night’s screening at the Center for New Media and the Arts in Bethel, CT was a huge amount of fun for a very small number of people. Including me, Mike, my friends and family, and the Center’s staff, there were fifteen people at the screening. Apart from me, Mike, my friends and family, and the staff, there were two. But those two really seemed to enjoy it! And, for that matter, so did the rest of us, so all’s well that ends well.
It was interesting for me to watch all the films in order — something I’d never done before. It gave me the opportunity to relive the summer’s madness in a compressed, unstressed, reflective sort of way. I kept thinking to myself, We did this. We set out to do it, and we did. The films aren’t perfect (well, not all of them), but they exist, and that’s a bit of a minor miracle, when I think about it. Also, I was surprised at how much I enjoyed “The Jogger.” At the time, it felt like an afterthought, but as a coda to the whole experience, it holds up remarkably well.
Our thanks to Stephen Snow and Catherine Howard of the Center for New Media and the Arts. It’s a great space they have up there, and we’d love to come back and show the films to even more people. The sky’s the limit!
