About Us

The Creators
KEITH BOYNTON (Creator/Producer) was born and raised in Lakeville, Connecticut, the child of an Olympic canoeist and a greeting-card artist of some renown. He attended The Hotchkiss School in Lakeville, Connecticut, where he met James Creque and fraternized occasionally with his cousin Robb Stey. An English and Theater double major, Keith graduated from Amherst College in 2005 with summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa honors, but without sufficient Latin to really understand what that meant. Since then, he has written and directed two feature films – The Now and Keeper – as well as producing two of his own plays (Walls and The Quotable Assassin) off-off-Broadway, prompting The New York Times to label him “a talent worth watching.” He is far too modest to argue. When he’s not making films, Keith enjoys improv comedy, armchair philosophy, and meandering. He lives in New York City, and he likes superhero comics much more than is healthy for a grown man.
MIKE LAVOIE (Creator/Producer) was born in Hershey, Pennsylvania, which is why he’s so sweet, and yes, he loves kisses, among other useful pickup lines. He graduated from Georgetown University with a B.A. in English and Psychology. He spent the following summer taking an acting intensive at Yale University and later studied at the William Esper Studio, the LAByrinth Theater and the Upright Citizen’s Brigade Theater. Mike is part of the Strings Attached Theater Company, which was featured at the Cherry Lane Theater as part of the 2008 NYC Fringe Festival. Time Out New York said “the brightest moments come from Lavoie,” which is a very nice thing for a magazine to say. He won Best Leading Actor for his part in The Queen Bee of Mushroomtown, was an Associate Producer on the hit Off-Broadway show Sleepwalk With Me and in his spare time, Mike rides his bike, plays a mean didgeridoo, and consumes large quantities of cappuccinos and chocolate scones.
The Core Crew
ROBB STEY (Web Designer/Media Strategist; Director of Photography, “Old Love” and “Hero by Proxy”) grew up in bucolic Lakeville, CT. Raised on the high lonesome bluegrass music of his father and the constant grammatical corrections of his mother, he bases the vast majority of his friendship decisions on taste in music and familiarity with Strunk & White. Robb attended The Hotchkiss School, where he ran in slightly different circles than his cousin Keith, but sharpened his pool and foosball skills (ok, and learned stuff) against the much older and more menacing James “Games” Creque, who doesn’t remember this. In college, Robb drank far too much coffee and played far too much golf (ok, and learned stuff), but still managed to graduate (early, miraculously) from the University of Michigan in December 2003 with a B.A. in English and a pseudo-Creative Writing minor (long story). After living in Washington, D.C. for several years, Robb moved to New York City, where he is currently a business intelligence consultant/private investigator by day and a professional dreamer by night. In May 2009, Robb received a “Best Cinematography” award for his work on “The Queen Bee of Mushroomtown,” winner of the 2009 New York City 24-hour Film Race.
JAMES CREQUE (Producer, Films 1-5; Actor, “Old Love” and “Captivated”; Director, “After Perfect”) graduated from Trinity College with a B.A. in Theatre and Dance in 2003. He skipped 2nd grade, proof that he used to be relatively very smart. Losing sleep by missing out on all that nap time is a habit he continues to this day. He often studied during his tenure at Hotchkiss where he met Keith Boynton, years long collaborator, occasional employer, and general nuisance. Since college, James has paid his several recurring bills and parking tickets primarily by way of theater technician work and film production with ambitions of paying them by acting. During his career he has had the privilege of learning from several theater and film professionals including a few who someday you will have heard of. He has produced and performed in many many plays, a handful of feature films and shorts, and endeavors to drastically increase the portion of his remaining waking life he spends doing the same.
SUMI LEE (Co-Producer/Director of Publicity) was raised in South Korea and Colorado, although she “grew up” mostly on the East Coast, starting with her time at The Hotchkiss School in Lakeville, Connecticut, with Keith Boynton and Robb Stey. She received a B.A. in English and Government in 2006 from Georgetown University and was awarded The Mary Phelam Poetry Prize at graduation for her collection of poems. Currently, Sumi is a 3L at New York Law School (not to be confused with NYU Law School, unless the confusion makes you think she’s smarter) and is a senior editor of the school’s Media Law and Policy journal. As co-producer, she is thankful to 12in12 for opening her eyes to the world of filmmaking, and for helping her conquer her fear of the F train.
Contributors
DYLAN BANDY (Actress, “Sublet,” “Moving Pictures,” and “The Jogger”) is thrilled to be a part of 12 Films 12 Weeks. She met Keith and “the crew” by auditioning for them like a week ago. Good story. Hm. Dylan got her undergrad in Voice Performance from Indiana University’s School of Music, and she currently studies at The Barrow Group Theater. Her credits range from musical theater to opera to film and back. Upcoming projects include Lesbian Love Octagon: A Musical Comedy About Dyke Drama, Us: A Peter Gabriel Musical, Waiting Room: a Contemporary Opera, and All-American Genderf*ck Cabaret. Many beautiful thanks to her artistic community who are an inspiration, and to her friends and family who are a much needed support.
ARTHUR CHAN (Guiding Spirit; Actor, Films 1-3 and 12; PA, Films 1-4) most recently served as Assistant Producer on the off-Broadway hit Sleepwalk With Me. There he became friends and subsequently roommates with Mike Lavoie. In the 12in12 universe, he is known as a Production Assistant by day and “Art the Jogger” by night. Arthur studied international politics and creative writing at Georgetown University, received a master’s degree from University College Cork in Ireland, and will study entertainment law at the University of Michigan Law School. Arthur has also previously spent a summer in the mailroom of United Talent Agency where he tried in vain to shake the nickname Lloyd.
MICHAEL REDFIELD (Director/Composer, “Hero by Proxy”; Composer, “Captivated,” “Spirits,” and “The Jogger”) appeared most recently as an actor in Informed Consent at the Pacific Resident Theatre Co-Op, directed by Peter Levin. He starred opposite Shiva Rose in My Antonia at the Rubicon, directed by Scott Schwartz, music by Stephen Schwartz. He played Jimmy Reeves in the West Coast Premiere of Daisy Foote’s When They Speak of Rita, for which he received the 2005 Ovation Award Nomination for Best Featured Actor. As a composer, he has written music for concerts and stage productions, including Death of a Salesman at the Pacific Resident Theatre. As a director, he has collaborated on numerous theatre productions in New England and New York, and is currently in pre-production for the short film Bloom. He is a graduate of Amherst College in Massachusetts, where he studied biology and music.
GIUSEPPE PUGLIESE (Director of Photography, “Captivated,” “The Proposal,” and “The Jogger”) is a Graduate of The School Of Photography Georgia, as well as the CEO and Founder of New York Film Studios, a production company that deals mainly with high definition work. He’s the cinematographer for their larger projects. Giuseppe actually started out in the music business; he owned a professional recording studio for many years before switching fields to cinematography. His music background helped in other ways; Giuseppe started shooting music videos for Epic Records. He was the DP for some of their biggest-name artists, such as Busta Rhymes. Giuseppe was the first cinematographer to shoot a Busta Rhymes music video completely in high definition. He’s also the cinematographer for a collection of great feature films, as well as some award-winning shorts.
ANGELA PERRI (Actress, “Captivated” and “Hero by Proxy”) has played “Margaret” in “Captivated,” “the woman” in the magical and triumphant “Queen Bee of Mushroomtown,” “the woman” in James Fauvell’s titillating original play “Shelter” (directed by James Creque), and “Claire” in Keith Boynton’s feature, Keeper. So happy to be working with her favorite Brooklyn boys again. Mom to Sam & Rebecca (a.k.a. the best kids on earth). Graduate of the William Esper Studio (see also Mike Lavoie). Proud member of The Collective. www.angelaperri.com
CLINT BYRNE (Actor, “Hero by Proxy”; Co-Producer/Propmaster, Films 6, 7, and 9-12) was born and raised in Buffalo, NY and went on to attend college at SUNY Buffalo, where he studied theater and met one of his best friends, James Fauvell. While he could have stayed in Buffalo, he decided it would be best to move to the city that never sleeps, with direction from his father (quoting Frank Sinatra) “If you can make it there, you can make it anywhere.” By trade he is an actor, but he has been working with 12in12 behind the scenes as a producer to make sure the projects run smoothly. For the past year, Clint has acted in numerous small projects, but he claims to have learned much of his behind-the-scenes know-how while working as 2nd Assistant Director on “Nicholas of Myra,” filmed in Buffalo, NY. He is happy to be working with all the talented crew and actors associated with 12in12.
JAMES FAUVELL (Actor, “Sublet,” “Script 2,” “The Proposal,” “Spirits,” and “Magic Marker”) made his professional acting debut in the world premiere of Tom Fontana’s The Day Jack London Got Pinched and has since performed at numerous Off- and Off-Off Broadway theatres. Most recent acting credits include Alcohol, a one-man show written by Kyle Bradstreet, and The Giant’s Causeways. As a playwright he has had two plays produced in NYC: Cranes and Shelter. As a proud collaborator on “The Queen Bee Of Mushroom-town,” he kissed a man, improvised the title, and quickly fell in love with the process of making good films with even better people. He is currently filming his first feature film, with a lead role in Nicholas of Myra, to be released December 2009.
ABBY HOLLAND (Actress, “The Proposal,” “Moving Pictures” and “Magic Marker”) is an actress/comedian originally from Rochester, NY. She currently studies improv and sketch at the Upright Citizens Brigade. With several Internet blog credits, you may have seen her on VH1′s Best Night Ever, or enjoyed her writing on The Pop Crunch Show. She recently finished a staged reading at the New York Theater Workshop, In Search of Hope. She loves performing in her musical improv group, Veal, whose members met at UCB, and which performs regularly throughout the city.

CAITLIN McEWAN (Writer/Director, “Moving Pictures”) thanks 12in12 for the opportunity to direct her first film! Some time ago, she had the honor of appearing in Keith’s first film, Lightspeed, which he produced, wrote, and directed at the age of five. As a performer, Caitlin has appeared in The Glass Menagerie with the Amazing Theater Company; Side Show, Ragtime, Footloose, and Snow White at the Weathervane Repertory Theatre; My Fair Lady, Crazy for You, Joseph…Dreamcoat, State Fair, Anything Goes, and Rip Van Winkle at TriArts; and Dorothy Parker: MEN! at the Producers’ Club. Caitlin has a B.A. in English from Yale, and graduated from the William Esper Studio with Mike Lavoie’s class. Rock on, Mike and Keith! www.caitlinmcewan.com
When DEVIN McEWAN (Project Inspiration; Actor, “Moving Pictures”) isn’t hanging out underwater, he enjoys signing autographs and kissing babies. His film credits include/consist entirely of “Moving Pictures,” in which he wore a purple shirt. Unfortunately, his bio requires an extra sentence here in order to preserve the formatting of this page. He lives in Connecticut and will die alone.
TAMARA CACCHIONE (Actress, “Moving Pictures”) was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY. A graduate of Vassar College, the National Theater Institute, and the Stella Adler Conservatory, Tamara recently took a break from acting to plan weddings for busy couples and is thrilled to be back! Favorite roles on stage include Petruchio in a reverse-gender Taming of the Shrew, Alison in Carl the Second, Demetrius in an all-female Midsummer Night’s Dream and Callie in Stop Kiss. In her free time, she enjoys doing aerial arts, such as the flying trapeze, and training for triathlons.
STU WATSON (Composer, “Sublet”; Actor, “Moving Pictures”) is a writer, musician and (apparently?) actor currently residing in East Harlem. A graduate of Yale, he is a PhD candidate in English at The Graduate Center, CUNY and Adjunct Instructor of English at John Jay College and CCNY. His musical projects include the bands Movie and Order or Ardor, and he is at present working on a novel.
JEFF PUCILLO (Actor, “Script 2″ and “Spirits”) is a native New Yorker whose performance in the lead role of the feature film The Standard Man will be seen in August at the Albuquerque Film Festival. He played a real bastard in Keith Boynton’s feature film The Now. He has appeared in numerous TV shows including Rescue Me, Law & Order, Law & Order: Criminal Intent, and more. He performed the one-man show Felicien, entirely in French, at the Harold Clurman Theatre. He has performed Off-Broadway in Bury the Dead and with almost any New York theater company you can think of. Jeff is married, has two daughters, and engineers and races a Formula Ford for relaxation.
Madelyne Camera (Actress, “The Proposal”; On-Site Photographer/Slate, Films 5-7 and 12) is honored to work with the Bond St. Boyz. With an MFA in Choreography from Smith, she lives in Northampton, MA. She’s directed, choreographed, taught, studied with, and performed for dance/theater companies in Seattle, Northampton, NYC, Colorado, and Europe. With specialties in contact improvisation, modern dance, and movement for theater, she dabbles in salsa, Argentine tango, and her growing passion for film. She is designing a couples dance therapy, and is the founder of Awe-InFlux, a Moving Company. Yes, that is her real last name, and yes it’s Italian.
JULIE GARRISON (Actress, “The Proposal”) recently graduated with a BFA in Acting from the University of Arizona. She is currently playing Chick in Crimes of the Heart with the Michael Chekhov Theatre Company at the 45th Street Theater. Her regional credits include several productions at Arizona Repertory Theatre, including Cherie in Bus Stop and Mae in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof. ALEXIS MACDONALD (Actress, “The Proposal”) is a native New Yorker and a graduate of the William Esper Studio. Since graduating, she has found herself directing and producing as well as acting. Theater credits include: Lady Windermere’s Fan (dir. Moisés Kaufman) at the Williamstown Theatre Festival, Summer Cyclone by Amy Fox, and various shows with her own theater company, Strings Attached. BRIAN TESTA (Co-Producer/Sound, “Old Love,” “A Summer’s Day,” and “Script 2″) grew up on Long Island. Schooled in Rhode Island. Broke his cherry in production working at a production house mixing audio and quickly became bored. After his destiny was manifested he found himself in Los Angeles working in the film industry. He worked in the art department, and as a 2nd 2nd AD; then reality television happened, and he got in on the ground floor in 2001, making a living as an audio mixer. Although he views reality TV as the downfall of American society, he allows it to pay his bills, all the while using his free time to perfect his passion: the craft of making movies. He has done shorts … music videos … and then in March of 2009, he took a class at the Upright Citizens Brigade and met Keith Boynton. Over beers they discussed their dreams of taking over the film industry. Brian helped out with the audio on a 24-hour short-film contest … and the rest is history … or the present … or the future!
RICK LATTIMER (Screenwriter, “Script 2″), a Buffalo, NY transplant, currently resides in Westchester. “Script 2″ was Rick’s first foray into screenwriting. He also writes equally absurdist plays and has shown them through Action Theater Company in Buffalo. Also an accomplished stage and film actor, Rick just wrapped shooting on the film The Quiet Room by 13bit Productions . His other NYC credits include horror film The Red Stitches with Give Him Enough Rope Productions, the plays Fever and Tune in Tomorrow with DJM Productions, and directing George Bernard Shaw’s Saint Joan for Theatervision. He has a B.A. in Theater from Buffalo State College.
DARCY BOYNTON (Actress, “Script 2″) is very excited to be involved with 12in12, but wants to make it perfectly clear that she is in no way related to that hooligan Keith Boynton. She is most certainly not his little sister, so don’t even ask. While primarily interested in theater, Darcy has been known to dabble in the occasional film – you may have seen her in “The Orchid Man” and you probably didn’t see her in Miles, Keith’s first feature film, unless of course you are Keith. Darcy will be attending NYU this fall and plans to major in English and Philosophy. This is filler text.
L.A.-based guitarist, vocalist, composer and arranger Michael Kohl (Composer, “Script 2″) was standing in line at In ‘n Out Burger at 11pm one Wednesday evening when he received a phone call from college friend Keith Boynton.
“Hey Mike Kohl, I’m in a jam. Can you write some music for my movie? I’d need it by tomorrow.”
“I’m not sure if I can help you, Keith. I have a flight in a few hours and I haven’t even seen your film. Realistically I’d only have about an hour or two to work on it before leaving town.”
“Please?”
“Okay.”
